Rare Earth FM, Alexandrite's sophomore EP, is a collection of songs written early 2020 during the start of the pandemic while Portland skies were filled with smoke from the NW wildfires.

The title, Rare Earth FM, originally the name of a discord group created by Alexandrite, is in reference to the resources inside our modern technology using electromagnetic waves to connect to the internet. It’s radio station fashioning, ending with FM, is alluding to our online infrastructure as if it was still in its primitive form, simply radio waves sent between walkie talkies held by children.

Themes within this EP play with connection and isolation from, "Encapsulate" which coils odd time signature grooves around early internet modem noises to the track, "Extinction" and its alienated perspective sent from a world wrecked by the climate crisis.

Our earth is rare and beautiful, let's do our best to take care of it as well as those who inhabit it. Enjoy the co-misery of our late stage capitalist world! </3 I hope this album helps everyone process the trauma of existence today.
